Research Coordinator

The Center for Health Equity Research and Promotion (CHERP) is a health services research Center of Innovation at the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System committed to advancing health equity among the Veteran population.

Multiple programmatic and administrative positions are available to support research and implementation projects addressing chronic health condition management, led by Dr. Ann-Marie Rosland’s VA CHERP-based team. Projects address informatics tool development, primary care delivery, and program evaluation.

We are looking for team players with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks.  Positions are available at General Schedule (GS)-9 and 11 levels.  Duties may include:

  • program management or research study coordination,
  • grant and manuscript development, preparation of research products & dissemination of research findings,
  • program-level communication strategies and materials, organizing communications and information among collaborators.

Qualified applicants will have a Master’s degree in Psychology, Public Health or other related fields and at least 1-2 years of relevant experience working in a research or evaluation setting.  Available positions are based at the University Drive/Oakland campus in Pittsburgh.  Staff currently are working a hybrid schedule with a combination of in-person and remote work, though some project tasks will require on-site work.

Research Assistant

The Center for Health Equity Research and Promotion (CHERP) is a health services research Center of Innovation at the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System committed to advancing health equity among the Veteran population.

CHERP is hiring full-time and part-time Research Assistants to support research and implementation projects addressing primary care delivery and chronic health condition management, led by Dr. Ann-Marie Rosland’s VA CHERP-based team. Projects address informatics tool development, developing collaborative research networks, and program evaluation.

We are looking for team players with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks.  Positions are available at General Schedule (GS)-5 and GS-7.  Duties will vary by position level and may include:

  • collecting data via mail, phone, and computer surveys, entering data and preparing study mailings,
  • assisting with maintaining research documents such as biosketches and publication repositories,
  • assisting with manuscript and report preparation and reference management,
  • assisting with development of program-level communication strategies and materials (including website and social media updates), 
  • supporting research team functions including meeting scheduling, agendas and minutes.

Ideal candidates will be proactive and detail-oriented individuals with the ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively both individually and within dynamic local and multi-site project teams. The incumbent must have a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in social sciences or biological sciences, which included or was supplemented by 12 semester hours in psychology (transcript required) and one year of relevant experience. Examples of relevant experience would typically include but are not limited to: Knowledge of and experience of working in human subjects research and the ability to work independently while conducting research activities.
